Albert Dunne took part in the 2008 Dublin Marathon on October 27th in aid of CARELOCAL and has done brilliant work to raise money on our behalf. His fundraising page will be live until the end of November, and we're hoping he will exceed his fundraising target of €1000. If you'd like to show appreciation for his efforts and support CARELOCAL at the same time, click here.
THANK YOU!

The mission of CARELOCAL is to assist older people to remain living in their own homes, with dignity, security and company, for as long as possible, and to help ensure that they remain in good health, both mentally and physically. Services include:
CARELOCAL has been providing these services on a voluntary basis for over 30 years in the Dublin City Council area.
CARELOCAL volunteers visit an older person in their local area once a week, in the older persons home, and this forms the foundation of a relationship that builds and strengthens over time. As an advocate and friend, the volunteer can contribute dramatically to increasing the quality of life of an older person who is experiencing social isolation.
CARELOCAL currently support over 100 volunteer visitors, and as this number continues to grow, we are very heartened by the obvious goodwill that exists among younger people towards their older neighbours.
Respect for the dignity of the person is all-important, with acceptance of their way of life. Some people require more attention, for example whose mobility is restricted and involvement in life is impaired. With time, good relationships are formed and lasting friendships are made.
CARELOCAL's priority is to identify frail and housebound older people who are experiencing social exclusion, as these are one of the most invisible and neglected groups of vulnerable people in our community.
